In America, 15-20 percent of its people experience bloating. It is an uncomfortable feeling in your stomach, especially after eating. Here are various reasons that will tell you why do you experience bloating.

  1. Presence of Imbalance of Bacteria

The human gut has 500 to 1000 different species of bacteria. Further, they attribute how the stomach works. “Bloating may be caused by a stomach disorder called  Dysbiosis, an imbalance between favorable and unfavorable microorganisms in the gut,” Mindbodygreen stated.

Moreover, Dysbiosis has two types: Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and small intestinal fungal overgrowth (SIFO).

SIBO is a serious condition caused by bacterial growth int the small intestine.

“This can increase the fermentation of sugar in the carbohydrates you eat, and bloating often occurs from this excess gas production. As a result, people with SIBO often can’t tolerate carbohydrates, including starches, sweets, and sugars,” Mindbodygreen said.

SIFO, on the other hand, is caused by the presence of fungi or yeast. Candida, a common yeast growing to your small intestine, that ward off symbiotic bacteria. As a result, you will experience gas and digestive problems.

2. Low stomach acid

When you have low stomach acid, it can be a reason why you experience bloating. Your stomach is having difficulty digesting protein because of the lack of acid. Your food stays in your stomach longer.

It is ideal to take hydrochloric acid supplements if you are experiencing bloating after eating a protein-rich meal. However, you must consult first to your doctor before doing so.

3. Consuming irritable food

Overeating can cause bloating. Respectively, too much fiber in your diet can be a culprit of your bloating. Plus, legumes and dairy can attribute to a bloated tummy. Thus, the inability of your stomach to digest these types of food can cause irritation.

To solve this problem, it is important to eliminate food that irritates your stomach. Gradually, re-introduce a certain type of food to easily identify what kind of food may cause your bloating issues.

4. Gallbladder problem

A gallbladder problem might be causing your tummy to be bloated. The main purpose of the gallbladder is to release the bile, created the liver, to break down dietary fat.

Moreover, gallbladder sludge, compounds building up in your gallbladder, can lead to gallstones. Plus, it can also cause cholecystitis, wherein your gallbladder swells.

If you are experiencing a gallbladder problem, it is ideal to talk to your doctor to address your health condition.
